Stilnest makes design happen with the power of 3D printing. We enable designers worldwide to create and share original ideas, made-to-order exlusively for you. Here’s to the beauty of design statements:
For the first time, Stilnest is publishing a designer piece in solid gold! For that, we chose a very special design.
Axel Brechensbauer’s “Quality of life” shows a naked man with a cross instead of its head. The artist's most famous sculpture is now made into a pendant in 14carat gold - an appropriate material for wearable art.
In his collection for Stilnest, Brechensbauer made seven of his most known pieces into pendants and rings: An alienated horse, a grenade, a bug - all turn to wearable miniature sculptures.
What's the Story
On a hot summers day, while he was swimming in the middle of a lonely, swedish lake, Axel Brechensbauer asked himself: Why do humans try so hard to distinguish themselves from nature?
We make planks from wood, bricks from clay, turn all organic forms in geometric ones and arrange them into systems.
Nature used to be scary or romantic, today we think it has to be improved - but still we long to go back. This is the subject, Axel uses for his sculptures, that seem funny and bizarre at the same time.
Who is the designer?
Axel Brechensbauer, Malmö, Sweden
The direct way is not his thing. Axel Brechensbauer studied philosophy in Sweden, art in Barcelona and design in Sydney.
Since then he has made a name for himself in the art world, his sculptures gained a lot of attention and he is now represented by the renowned Saatchi Gallery.
